(dunno if this is the right thread for this ) Ok, so after drooling over everybody else's hexies and wishing I knew how to hex, I decided to teach myself how. The problem is, I don't know where to begin. I mean, there are tons of tutorials and things out there for beginners, but I don't know which ones I should read first. I've got LNZ Pro, but all the numbers are like a foreign language to me. Any help? Thanks. <3

Well. I started off hexing using Hex Workshop-- though considering the technology of today's Petz Modification, I'd highly recommend using Lnz Pro in coordination with Petz Workshop. A lot talk down about PW, but to be honest, it's what most of us use, and where a lot of creativity can happen because it's visual and allows us to see what were doing-- a lot like drawing. Anyway. To get started, I'd suggest looking in Lnz Pro, at the "LNZ--> GD (or whatever breed it is that you are working on" area. Normally a number like 1033 will be under that dropdown menu. Now scroll down in the right side until you hit "[Ballz Info]". This is where all your main hexing happens. You know, changing the texture of petz, the color, the ball size, etc. If you are in PW, you can see that if you paint the right ankle of a great dane black (35), if you reload the file in Lnz Pro, you'll see that R ankle's first number is now 35. Most creative stuff happens in PW, add ball work, extinctive spotting work, etc. Some great tutorials are here: www.geocities.com/kibble_hex/home.htmlSpecifically based around Lnz Pro If you have any questions, feel free to let me know--- I'll be glad to help you out.

I'm a visal person, I can't hex at all without seeing what I'm doing. (Besides, the numbers are like a different language to me too.) I use PW (veeeeeery rarely But that's what I used to make the BLOB family! Wootwoot ) PW I think is aimed for beginners, but you can't edit seperate petz. Like Dane said, most people use PW to add in spots and addballz... plus it is SUPER fun to mess with the Breed size (it's in a tab somewhere..) because that's what you do to make mini and giant petz. Just don't click the eyes with a color. The eyes willl turn - BLACK! Eep. I like downloading tattoos for PW, plus you make your own once you get the hang of spots, that's always neat.
...of course you can play with LNZ Pro, you just looking at a visual person hyah.

Thanks, both of you guys. <33 I've checked out the tutorial site you reccomended, Dane, and LNZ Pro is starting to make sense to me now. xD Although PW is definately easier *cough* and better for lazy people like me. One question: how do you get rid of a Dali's spots in PW? When I try to fill them in, nothing happens. heh, here's a Meezer I came up with yesterday... Pretty simple, no?

Simple and elegant! I love it <3 Anyway if you want to get rid of all the spots. Go in PW in the Spots section on the drop down menu to your left... then click on the ball you wish you delete the lines from and you see the button above where it says "Clear"? Simply do that on each ball where there are spots and within seconds you'll have a spotless dali

Woot, it worked! xD I've got another question about spots: can they be textured in PW? I'm guessing you need to do it in LNZ Pro, but there's not harm in asking. Thanks a bunch. <3

You mean they are solid colors in PW? What you do is open the breedfile in Lnz Pro and scroll down till you hit: [Paint Ballz] Then, the very last number in each line you'll see a -1. change that to a 0 in every line (just the last -1) and your spots will be anchored a.k.a textured

Also to "anchor" the spots you have to add ANOTHER ", 0" after the texture number, it makes it so the ball won't change sizes while the petz move in the game, I usually only anchor the larger spots (such as chest patches), because if you open the file in PW after you've anchored everything, all of the anchoring disappears and you have to redo it (the texture number should remain though)
